Amazingly funny - someone at Fox 5 either has no idea about current technology and what a smartphone is capable of, or this was a joke that made it on to live television and the repercussions are now being felt. As part of their NYC coverage segment, they used some over-a-year-old futuristic iPhone 5 concepts that showed it with lasers and holographic projection capabilities.

NFC Mobile Payments has been tested several times in the past, London’s Tube system won’t be getting mobile-based payment technology any time soon. Customer Experience Director Shashi Verma said that existing NFC technology wasn’t able to drop below the 500 millisecond barrier – something which Transport for London demands from its high-churn Oyster card-based turnstiles. Verma added, “The concerns are only around NFC technology and not EMV. We are keen to see any progress the industry can make in this area.

As you may recall, I switched my WordPress theme two months ago , and installed a new theme called PixelPower. If you read my previous post, I had disabled W3 Total Cache Minify and replaced with Better WordPress Minify. So after successfully implementing the W3 Total Cache minify on another blog I decided to give mine a second chance; the problem I found was that it takes a few seconds for W3TC to write it to disk, and my Amazon CloudFront gets a 404 the first time it tries to hit it … After a second attempt it seems to be working fine.

This must be the week for the new Microsoft Surface ; I explained yesterday the marvelous new design , and today I just found this new piece of gold. While demo’ing the new Surface, the entire OS froze completely on the presenter - he was showing the new Internet Explorer, which should serve as a hint: please discontinue IE, please!
On a positive note, the presenter actually handled it pretty well - it’s not easy to keep going in these situations.
